Why Frantoio di Campagna?

Frantoio di Campagna is a Frantoio di Campagna is a third-generation family-owned olive mill in the sun-drenched hills of Castelvetrano, Sicily’s prized Valle del Belice. Founded in 1963, it blends deep-rooted tradition with forward-thinking innovation. The family cultivates its own groves and mills fruit from neighboring growers, specializing in the iconic Nocellara del Belice cultivar. Celebrated for its robust flavor, bright green-gold color, and exceptional qualities — including high polyphenols and natural anti-inflammatory oleocanthal — this olive takes center stage.

We don’t produce olive oil — we extract it. Olives are hand-picked at peak ripeness in late October from the family’s groves, then pressed within 36 hours at temperatures below 26°C using modern cold-extraction lines. The oil rests in temperature-controlled, buried stainless-steel tanks to preserve its vibrant character and prevent oxidation. Crafted for professional kitchens — built for chefs, not nonnas — Frantoio di Campagna delivers a full-bodied extra virgin olive oil with a smooth, buttery texture and harmonious spicy finish that elevates every dish. From grove to table, every bottle carries the story of passion, quality, and generations of Sicilian care.

Smell it. Sip it. Savor it. This is as close to the grove as olive oil gets. Light green with shimmering golden reflections, it carries an aroma of fresh olives, ripe tomato, artichoke, and freshly cut grass — transporting you straight to the Sicilian countryside. On the palate, layers unfold: intense and fruity notes give way to a clean, bold, peppery finish that lingers with balance and character. The new flavor for food. The simple Nocellara del Belice olive is not just an ingredient — it is the humble yet powerful base that takes center stage. Hand-picked at peak ripeness in late October from our single estate in Castelvetrano, then pressed within 36 hours at temperatures below 26°C it offers a smooth, buttery texture balanced by a harmonious spicy finish. Our kitchens demand ingredients that perform, and Frantoio di Campagna delivers a refined, delightful finish in every use. Frantoio di Campagna delivers a vibrant finish that elevates dishes rather than hiding behind them.

One single olive. The single flavor of Sicily.

Two Friends and a Fiat…

The Fiat is the joke and the truth. It is how I move through Sicily and the rest of the peninsula — close to the ground, windows down, music blasting. The friend is whoever is brave enough to come: the one who trusts me driving a manual car up winding mountains and down spiraling cliffs, who tastes with me, someone who loves an adventure.

Two Friends and a Fiat is not a travelogue of monuments. It is the version of Italy I actually live when I’m there: a small car, a shared map written by hand on the back of a napkin, a mill appointment, a lunch that runs long because the food, wine and conversation are just too good.

The journal is where Quen stops being only a shop and becomes what it already is in real life: a nurse who left scrubs for groves, a woman who still volunteers in Castelvetrano, and a curator who will not put something on the site unless she would put it on her own table.

I do not collect Italy. I drive through it, slowly, and bring home what still tastes like the place.
