EVOO is the highest grade: cold harvested and olives crushed by mechanical means only-NO chemicals, NO refining. Quen Imports only sells Frantoio di Campagna Sicilian EVOO made from Nocellara del Belice olives which are hand-harvested and crushed within 36 hours and cold-extracted at 26 degrees Celsius.

If a bottle can not tell you who pressed it keep looking!! Look for a named mill, a named olive variety, a place, and a harvest date. Quen Import’s authentic Sicilian EVOO comes from one producer: Frantoio di Campagna in Castelvetrano, Sicily. It is 100% Nocellara del Belice olives, cold-extracted and imported direct.

Read extra virgin first. Then harvest date (not only best-by), original (town or valley not just Italy), cultivar and packaging (dark glass or tin-no plastic!!). Our Frantoio di Campagna label names the mill (Frantoio means “mill”), location (Castelvetrano, Sicily) and variety (Nocellara del Belice).

Yes!! Use a good quality EVOO for sautéing and roasting at everyday heat (350 degrees), then finish the plate with more of the same oil. Frantoio di Campagna is used all over kitchens in Italy as a “go to” oil. Do not save for guests or special occasions-freshness is the point!

Olive oil is a fresh fruit juice, best within 12-18 months of harvest and 6-12 months after opening. Keep it away from light and heat-and air: cap closed.
